Now with that momentum they head to Texas to face off with the Rangers in what may prove to be a tough set of games for Chicago. The Rangers sit on top of the American League West, but they're the only team in the division that's north of .500.
Texas presents the perfect measuring stick
The Rangers are giving the White Sox a great opportunity to show that they have what it takes to stand with the top teams in the American League. The series win over Toronto is what should give the White Sox the momentum they need to take the series from Texas early. Should Chicago give a good showing and put the Rangers down easily, it would send a message to be seen across the MLB.
The White Sox have proven that they can win challenging series. The obstacle now is to make it into sustained success that can carry into August.

Carrying that momentum into Texas would prove the Blue Jays series was more than a good weekend. It would show that Chicago is beginning to establish the consistency that separates legitimate contenders from teams that simply get hot for a few games.
The White Sox and the Guardians have been stuck in a perpetual mad dash for first place in the AL Central that any win could mean one more step to holding the lead, no matter how narrow. Every successful team arrives at a point where the players expect to win, and that's the sort of confidence that can carry a team to a division win.
The Sox don't face their own opponents in the AL Central until the Guardians on August 7th, which makes this an excellent opportunity for Chicago to take home a few wins and get ahead while they can.
