Unlike the Cubs, the White Sox welcomed the second half of the season in style, by soundly defeating the Blue Jays in a 12-4 victory in Toronto. They wasted no time showing that they're out to win, and that the layups are simply games that they're not going to miss.
One game back doesn't necessarily mean much, it's just nice to highlight the unexpected trajectory that this team has embarked on. The first impressions after a break like this can definitely make a mark for the rest of the season. The White Sox laid down a statement on the Blue Jays, and it's one they've been quietly sowing all season.

One of the things that always makes up a team that's heating up is never an individual player. The success needs to come from multiple different sources. On Friday, seven different White Sox players scored, with Meidroth, both Montgomery's and Antonacci all scoring twice. That's exactly the kind of offensive power that can catapult a team into contention.
The White Sox scored five runs in the second inning and never relinquished control. Adding another four runs in the seventh really added some insurance. It really was an impressive offensive showing that Blue Jays pitching just couldn't keep up with. The Sox have had a glow up this summer that seems to be firing on all cylinders.
With a difficult schedule ahead of them, it's important for the White Sox to bank all of the wins that they can right now. These games can ease the tension created during those difficult times. Especially when Cleveland is so readily on Chicago's heels, taking the easy ones is more important than ever.
The White Sox couldn't have scripted a much better beginning to the second half, combining timely hitting with a complete team performance. If they continue treating winnable series the way they treated Toronto on Friday, they'll remain firmly in the hunt for the AL Central crown.
