The Chicago Bears entered the season with high hopes. Things started well, as the Bears were 4-2 after six weeks. They went into their bye week, and everything fell off the rails. Chicago has lost ten straight games and has one game left on this dreadful schedule.

The Bears will be taking a deep dive into multiple head coaching candidates as they seek to have a bounce-back campaign in 2025 and beyond. The roster has talented players all across, but they need a new identity to maximize the potential of the team.

Plenty of names have been floated as people to watch for. Guys like Ben Johnson, Mike Vrabel, Kliff Kingsbury, Aaron Glenn, and Mike Flores are names that have been mentioned for the Bears opening but another name was just added to the discussion.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini stated the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver is a name to watch.

Bears News: Anthony Weaver is Linked to Bears Opening

Russini revealed that the GM Ryan Poles has done a lot of research on Weaver with interviews on the horizon.

"The Bears are gearing up for their head-coaching search, and a few big names are already on their radar: Vrabel, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, and Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver. GM Ryan Poles has been doing serious homework on these candidates, particularly Weaver."

In that piece, Russini adds that Weaver is raved for his leadership qualities and was a finalist for the Washington Commanders gig last offseason.

Weaver was a second-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, playing for them and the Houston Texans, logging seven years as a pro. He got into the NFL as a coach in 2012 with the New York Jets. He's since had stops with the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Texans, Ravens, and Dolphins.

This season under Weaver, the Dolphins are third in the NFL in total defense (310.5) while being ninth in pass defense (207.8) and run defense (102.8). In addition, Miami is tied for eighth in scoring defense (20.8).

He will have a chance to sway Chicago's brass, as it sounds like he'll get a shot to interview for the opening.
