Shocking Coaching Legend Possibly Eyeing Bears' Job Opening
The Chicago Bears 2024 season has been a nightmare after a promising 4-2 start. The Bears have lost seven games in a row and own a 4-9 record. In Week 14, Chicago was embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers, falling 38-13.
That was Thomas Brown's first game as an interim coach, and it couldn't have gone worse. Matt Eberflus was fired on Nov. 29 but the Bears will have a head coaching search this season.
President Kevin Warren believes the Bears HC job will be the most sought-after job on the market but there are also some questions around the gig.
There have been plenty of names floated as potential options and the latest one is Pete Carroll.
Bears Rumors: Yogi Roth Says Pete Carroll Still Wants to Coach
College football analyst Yogi Roth was on the Up & Adams show on Dec. 4 and said that Carroll is someone who still wants to coach when asked about the Bears opening.
Roth said, "I know this.. I KNOW Pete Carroll wants to coach."
He added that despite Carroll no longer being a head coach, he still has that competitive edge and is looking to get back onto the sideline.
Back in 2024, Carroll was fired by the Seattle Seahawks after 14 years and moved into an advisory role.
During his tenure with the Seahawks, he notched ten playoff appearances and Seattle's lone Super Bowl title. He finished with a 137-89-1 record as the head coach with the Seahawks and also has four additional years of head coaching experience with the New England Patriots and New York Jets.
In addition, the 73-year-old was the head coach at USC from 2001-2009, where he had plenty of success. He logged an 83-19 record, with two National Championships and four Rose Bowl championships.
Carroll's resume is top-tier and would be an excellent hire for the Bears. He's a bonafide leader, scout, and developer of young talent. If he wants the job, Chicago should have him atop their list of candidates.
The Bears roster has plenty of playmakers, but they need a coach who can get the most out of these players.
