The Chicago Bears did an exceptional job improving the roster this offseason. General manager Ryan Poles made it his mission to find a way to get more playmakers on the field.

The Bears added a long list of studs in both free agency and the NFL Draft. Chicago selected Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze back in April's draft.

Although the organization and the fanbase are thrilled with those selections, it was revealed Chicago had a deal in place if the draft board shook out differently.

Bears News: Chicago Had Deal with New York Giants

The New York Giants are on Hard Knocks, which is showing a behind-the-scenes of their offseason. In the recent episode, Giants general manager Joe Schoen is seen going through different scenarios.

He revealed that if both Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers were off the board, the Giants were going to trade with the Bears.

Chicago would give up a third and fourth-round pick to swap from 6 to 9. They would also receive a fifth-rounder back. The Bears in that scenario, would have selected Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt.

You can never go wrong with a top-notch offensive lineman, especially since you have a new franchise quarterback under center now.

The logic made plenty of sense but ultimately the draft board didn't pan out like that.

The Bears now have one of the best WR corps in the league in Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, and Odunze. Everything happens for a reason. Chicago didn't have to shelve out more draft capital to move up. Instead, they stood pat and ended up getting one of the best playmakers in the draft.
