Week 4: Los Angeles Rams @ Chicago Bears

Sunday, September 29

An argument can be made that the Rams are the Bears' toughest opponent in the first month of the season. Their head coach, Sean McVay, is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL. Additionally, they have Matthew Stafford, the most experienced quarterback the Bears will face in September.

Stafford has faced the Bears plenty in his career due to his time in Detroit. In 21 career games against the Bears, Stafford has a 12-9 record. Of those 21 games, 11 were played in Chicago, where Stafford has a 5-6 record. Although Stafford is below .500 against the Bears in Chicago, he knows how to handle the Chicago crowd.

The Rams' offense boasts several weapons for Matthew Stafford to utilize. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is reportedly back to full strength after struggling with injuries last season. Standout rookie Puka Nacua, who made an impact last year, is another receiver Stafford will look to for big plays. They also added tight end Colby Parkinson, who provides a valuable asset to the offense. In the backfield, they have Kyren Williams, who showed his explosiveness out of the backfield last season.

Defensively, the Rams are weaker than they have been in recent years following the retirement of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald. They also traded away linebacker Ernest Jones on cut-down day. Notable names remaining on their defense include rookie first-round pick Jared Verse, former Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White, and safeties Kamren Curl and John Johnson.

Similar to the Colts game, the Bears' offense should have the upper hand against the Rams' defense. The Rams' offense is more proven and will present a significant challenge for the Bears' defense. While the Bears have the potential to win, the edge goes to Stafford and the Rams.

Prediction: Rams 24-20
