The Chicago Bears are getting ready for the beginning of training camp later this month at Halas Hall. It will be the first time Bears fans will get an up-close look at the brand-new roster after an eventual offseason that saw many changes on both sides of the ball.

While most of those new faces will be on offense, the Bears also have some new players on the defense that fans are looking forward to seeing such as Kevin Byard and Jonathan Owens. But Bears fans might have to wait and see Owens in training camp as he has a prior engagement that he has to take care of.

Nancy Armour of USA TODAY reported on Sunday night that US Olympian Simone Biles told the media that the Bears are allowing Owens a couple of days off from training camp so he can watch her at the Summer Games in Paris.

Owens married the decorated Olympic gymnast last Spring and was in attendance at the U.S. Olympics Trials with the rest of Biles’ family in Minneapolis, MN.

The Bears reportedly open training camp on July 23, which is a few days before the Opening Ceremony in Paris. It hasn’t been said when Owens will be at the Summer Games, but it’s good to see the Bears defensive back supporting his wife, who will be looking for her fifth gold medal.
