Ever since the Chicago Bears locked up the rights to the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, the talk of the town has been what they're going to do with it. Every day brings a new story that twists the narrative, trying to determine what General Manager Ryan Poles' plan will be. Will he keep Justin Fields as Chicago's quarterback, or will they trade Fields and move forward with presumably Caleb Williams?

The impending decision is tearing the fan base in two. If you have a pro-Fields narrative, you have to be anti-Williams. If you have a pro-Williams narrative, you have to be anti-Fields. But neither of those things has to be true. We're over nine weeks away from draft night, and everyone is exhausted.

Luckily, there are people out there who are smarter and closer to the situation than the average fan. The Chicago Tribune's Bears beat reporter Brad Biggs has written about the team for decades. He's as close as anyone in the business and seems to believe there is no debate whatsoever.

Biggs: Fields vs. Williams Debate "Pointless"

In his latest article for the Tribune (Subscription Required), Biggs says the biggest debate happening in Chicago is not even debatable. He says that from his perspective, the only discussion being had at Halas Hall is which quarterback the Bears will select first overall, and Fields is not part of the equation.

As we approach the NFL Combine, where teams gather to talk business and scout prospects, expect the Bears to have two things on their agenda. The first will be to scout the quarterbacks and top talent participating in the combine. The second will be to engage in Fields trade talks with interested teams. We could see a move anytime between then and draft night - presumably on the sooner side.
