Justin Fields Trashes Bears' Matt Eberflus in Surprise Interview
By Cem Yolbulan
While the Chicago Bears are desperately trying to build chemistry and get the offense going with Caleb Williams under center, Justin Fields has been re-establishing his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former first-round pick of the Bears, Fields was traded in the offseason after three disappointing years in Chicago. Through three games this season, however, he has been one of the brightest spots in the NFL.
Fields has led the Steelers to a 3-0 record with a 73.3% completion rate, 518 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He has added 90 yards and a score in the ground game.
Understandably feeling confident, Fields took a shot at his former coaches in Chicago. In the latest episode of Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, the 25-year-old was asked whether the coaching in Chicago or Pittsburgh was better. Fields didn't hesitate when choosing the Steelers and added "it's not close."

Even though this may sound harsh at first, it makes a ton of sense. Fields had Matt Nagy in his rookie season, followed by two years of Matt Eberflus. The two offensive coordinators he had were Bill Lazor and Luke Getsy. It is hard to argue that is an elite crop of coaches for a young quarterback to work with.
Plus, Fields is now working with Mike Tomlin. A Super Bowl-winning head coach, Tomlin consistently gets the most out of his teams, shockingly never having a losing record despite working with some underwhelming rosters. He is easily one of the best coaches in the league and Fields is not wrong in preferring him over Eberflus.
Fields was obviously never going to choose Eberflus in that response but he also didn't have to say "not close." That highlights how he feels about his former coaches and their inability to put him in a position to succeed.
