The Justin Fields era in Chicago is officially over after it came to an anticlimactic end last week when the young quarterback got traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick.

The former first-round pick of the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft, Fields never found the success fans were hoping for in Chicago. In 38 starts for Fields, the Bears had a 10-28 record, while the Ohio State product registered 40 passing touchdowns to 30 interceptions.

Despite the underwhelming three years, there is nothing but mutual love and respect between Chicago and Fields.

In fact, the 25-year-old had nothing but excellent things to say about the Bears in his first remarks after the trade.

Saying that he loves the city of Chicago, his teammates, and Bears fans, Fields thanked everyone for supporting him through difficult seasons.

Fields' fate was sealed after the Carolina Panthers (which meant the Chicago Bears) got the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It was all but guaranteed that the Bears would draft their next franchise quarterback. After they zoned in on USC signal-caller Caleb Williams, it was only a matter of time that Fields would depart.

In Pittsburgh, Fields will enter a competition with Russell Wilson for the starting spot. If Fields gets 51% of snaps next season, the Bears will receive a fourth-round pick instead. This means there is even more of an incentive for Bears fans to root for their former quarterback's success in his new destination.
