Injury-Prone Bear Gets Hurt Again During Chicago's Week 5 Game
By Cem Yolbulan
The Chicago Bears' offensive line has been a point of concern all season. Even though the Bears made significant offseason additions on the offensive end of the field, the front five was seen as a potential weakness by many.
Caleb Williams and his slow start to the season understandably received a ton of attention early in the season, resulting in the up-and-down production by the Bears offense through four weeks.
Things were finally looking up in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers. After the Bears took a commanding lead early in the game, they lost a key starter to injury. Teven Jenkins, who had also left the Week 4 clash against the Rams early, exited the game in the third quarter and is questionable to return with an ankle injury.
Bears News: Teven Jenkins Leaves Second Consecutive Game Early
Jenkins was limited in practice throughout the week with a rib injury. He was able to shake it off and took his spot at left guard but had to be replaced by Bill Murray mid-game.
This is a disappointing development for Jenkins and the Bears. The talented offensive lineman has been dealing with consistent injuries since he came into the league as a second-round pick in 2021. Starting with his back surgery in his rookie season, he spent time on the injured reserve each of his first three seasons in the league and was only able to play 31 games.
He started this season healthy and has been a reliable presence out there at left guard. If he were to miss extended time, Murray will likely continue to step in as the starter.
