2018 #22 Overall: Chandler Hutchinson, Wing, Boise St. (D)

Ah, that’s more like it. Hutchinson, the Bulls’ second first-rounder in this draft class, is most well-known for attempting to troll Chicago after being traded to the Wizards in 2021 – who would go on to (narrowly) make the playoffs. Hutchinson shot 37.9% from the field for Washington, ironically better than the 27.8% he shot for the Bulls that season.

There is not much more to add to the Wikipedia page here. A relatively strong 6-foot-6 wing out of Boise St., Hutchinson had the build of an ideal swingman. Ultimately, that only means so much when you’re a career 44.2/30.9/64.3 shooter.

He had a short cup of coffee with Phoenix in 2022 and has not touched an NBA court since then. As a pick in the late first round, it’s hard to give lower than a D when you’re hunting for role players at this point anyway. It's hard to fault taking a chance on teaching the guy with a prototypical build how to shoot a bit better. At least the Wizards made the playoffs.
