Former Steelers Star Not Impressed by Justin Fields in Pittsburgh
Moving on from Justin Fields might wind up being one of the best moves the Bears have made in years.
There haven’t been any positive reports about the former Chicago QB since he was sent to Pittsburgh this offseason, and Le’Veon Bell piled on to the negativity on Wednesday.
Bell went on to add that Fields ‘definitely gotta bunch of room to improve’ in the comments of the thread. That’s certainly not something Steelers fans are hoping to see out of their QB2.
Fields Looks Late with his Throws to ‘Route God’ James Everett Jr.
There were several instances in the tweeted video in which ‘Route God’ James Everett Jr. had to wait for the ball to arrive after completing his route.
And the excuses for the poor timing offered by Steelers fans were pretty weak.
Some accounts suggested that Fields didn’t know the routes and was waiting to see them before throwing the ball, which if (almost certainly) not accurate, is pretty damning.
Other accounts say they can’t be certain while others blame the editing of the video.
But all of those excuses can’t take away from the fact that there have already been reports that Fields doesn’t look the part of QB1 in Pittsburgh.
"Fields, from what I've seen, they had a month of spring practices and he's a terrific athlete, but really the knocks against him that I heard coming in actually turned out to be true," Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo said on ‘Press Coverage’ on Sirius XM NFL Radio earlier this offseason. "He's not terribly accurate with the ball. His placement isn't all the great, and I could see them maybe having a package or two for him each week depending on the opponent, but I see this team as Russell Wilson's team."
Some fans were understandably upset when the team moved on from Fields, and some doubted if the team would be any better off without him.
But there are plenty of signs that those fans can breathe a sigh of relief going forward.
Fields has never thrown for even 2,600 yards in a season and he’s struggling to beat out a 35-year-old quarterback who fell out of favor with his team last year.
The story isn’t over just yet, but this is another sign Bears fans can point to when reviewing whether this move was a good one or not.
