DJ Moore Regrets Sunday Night Football Outburst
By Cem Yolbulan
The Chicago Bears offense is in shambles. Despite being an acceptable 1-1 to start the season, the offensive unit hasn't clicked. Caleb Williams and the wide receivers haven't found chemistry so far, leading to underwhelming offensive outputs through two games.
This lack of chemistry was especially palpable in Sunday Night Football against the Texans. Chicago's star receiver DJ Moore was visibly frustrated after an incomplete pass by Williams in the fourth quarter. He took his helmet and walked off to the bench pouting. After watching the footage of his reaction, Moore wasn't too happy with himself. Speaking to ESPN, Moore said he has been doing "self-evaluation" since then and regrets his body language after the play.
"I shouldn't have shown as much. But it's a part of the game. Like I said, we were one play away from the game changing. And we just couldn't connect, nobody on offense could connect with the one play or get the one play started to get us on track and go up. It's football. Everybody is going to have their ups and downs and frustrations."
- DJ Moore
This is a mature attitude to have for Moore. In his seventh season in the league, Moore is one of the veterans of the team. He is coming off the best season of his career and is the No. 1 weapon on the Bears' offense. He needs to show leadership in situations like this for this young team.
At the same time, he has every right to be frustrated. Just like every member of the offense, Moore is off to a slow start. He has 11 catches for 89 yards and zero touchdowns for the season, far below his production from a season ago. Moore and the Bears are looking to get back on track against the struggling Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
