It's been an eventful and chaotic offseason for the Bears thus far and we are only in March. Once the regular season ended, talk around the team shifted to what the Bears would be doing at quarterback for the 2024 campaign.

Fans and the national media went back and forth on whether the Bears should trade Justin Fields or keep the No.1 overall pick and select their new franchise quarterback.

They decided to roll with the latter and traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round pick, which converts to a fourth-rounder if he plays 51% of the offensive snaps.

The Ohio State product was beloved by many of his teammates and a bunch of them were sad to see him go. Tight end Cole Kmet was one of them. He said that management contacted him and some other teammates who were close to Fields before the trade was officially announced.

Kmet and Fields had developed a great rapport over the past three seasons. The Notre Dame product compiled 183 receptions for 1,875 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns since 2021.

With Fields under center, Kmet was a featured element of the passing attack. Their relationship off the field certainly translated onto the gridiron.

As we look towards the draft now, Chicago will likely select USC's Caleb Williams to be the new signal caller in the Windy City.

With a rookie quarterback likely taking over the reins, the Bears aren't getting much love from oddsmakers.
