Bears Player Issues Fiery Response to Dirty Sideline Punch by Texans
The Chicago Bears were fresh off a comeback victory in Week 1, where they topped the Tennessee Titans 24-17.
They were attempting to have that momentum carry over into their Sunday Night Football tilt against the Houston Texans but that didn't happen. Instead, they fell short to the Texans 19-13.
Aside from getting their first loss of the season, a Bears player was punched in the face on the sideline and responded to it on social media after the game.
Bears News: Roschon Johnson Responds to Sideline Altercation
During the third quarter, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was hit out of bounds by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
It could have been a penalty for being a late hit but no flags were thrown. Of course with their franchise quarterback on the ground, his teammates came to his defense. But things escalated as Al-Shaair punched running back Roschon Johnson in the face.
Johnson didn't retaliate but after the game, he revealed that it took a lot for him not too.
"It took every bit of my soul not to thrash that boy."
- Roschon Johnson
The most alarming part was that the refs didn't throw a flag. The Bears should have been rewarded a free 15 yards, and Al-Shaair should have been ejected from the game.
I expect the NFL to discipline Al-Shaair but unfortunately, it won't have an effect on Chicago.
It was better that Johnson didn't respond to that foolish act. It would have led to maybe an ejection or even a fine but thankfully he didn't.
Opponents going forward should be weary of Johnson, as he may not be so kind next time.
