The Chicago Bears started the 2024 season off with a dramatic 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans. Even though they were able to secure the win, they were carried by the defense and special teams.

That can't be the case again when the Bears travel to play the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.

They'll need better production from the offense but the latest news from the injury report reveals that there will be more pressure on Caleb Williams in his second career start.

Bears News: Status Around Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze for Week 2 Is TBD

When speaking to team reporters on Friday, head coach Matt Eberflus said that the Bears are "going to take it all the way up to the game" to see if receivers Keenan Allen or Rome Odunze will suit up.

Allen is dealing with a heel injury and hasn't practiced for the past three days. Meanwhile, Odunze is considered week-to-week with a sprained MCL.

The Bears added both of these receivers into the fold this offseason to improve the playmakers around Williams. Now in his second career start, he may have more on his plate.

In his debut last week, Williams went 14-of-29 for 93 passing yards. The Bears as a team finished with 148 yards of offense but they'll need a better outing from their QB1 on Sunday Night.

I don't expect Williams to come out and throw for 300 yards with three passing touchdowns, but he'll need to have the offense move the ball consistently.

Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is a good example of what Williams needs to do. In Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Daniels went 17-of-24 for 184 yards. He also added 88 rushing yards with two touchdowns.

He found a way to get his team up and down the field and scored 20 points. If Williams has a performance similar to that, it'll be considered a win and would be a positive step in his development.
