Bears Get Huge Update on Injured Rookie's Recovery
The Chicago Bears may have experienced more change than any other team in the NFL over the last couple of months. After going 7-10, general manager Ryan Poles made sure to switch things around.
It began in free agency with the additions of D'Andre Swift, Kevin Byard, and Gerald Everett. Can't forget they traded for receiver Keenan Allen.
Chicago then rolled into the 2024 NFL Draft and made five total selections, headlined by Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze.
Even though those are the two biggest names from their draft class, the Bears just got some great news regarding the injury timeline for another rookie.
Bears News: Chicago Expects OT Kiran Amegadjie On the Field for Training Camp
Head coach Matt Eberflus revealed that the team believes that rookie OT Kiran Amegadjie is projected to be ready for training camp that kicks off in late July.
Amegadjie has been rehabbing a quad injury that required surgery. The 22-year-old was a three-year starter at Yale and played really well. Amegadjie excels as a run blocker who understands pad levels and leverage when climbing to the second level.
He has long arms and moves well in space as a pass protector but still needs to develop more in that area. Regardless, Amegadjie getting back on the field in training camp is huge. The Illinois native needs as many reps as possible to adapt to the NFL playing level.
The Bears nabbed Amegadjie with the 75th overall pick, clearly expressing their belief in him. Darnell Wright and Braxton Jones are going to be the tackle duo going into 2024 but Amegadjie has a clear path to being a swing tackle for this squad.
