The Chicago Bears were one of the several teams across the league starting training camp this week.

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the Bears this coming season as they’ve made a ton of moves to bolster their offense. For starters, Chicago added Gerald Everett, and D’Andre Swift in free agency and acquired Keenan Allen in a trade from the Los Angeles Chargers.

Then in the 2024 NFL Draft, they solidified their offense with the selections of Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze in the first round. Even though all the attention will be on the rookies, the Bears will be looking for the veterans to step up and make plays.

One of those vets who will be called upon is Everett, who signed a two-year deal with the Bears after spending the last two years with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Bears received some great news about Everett after this second training camp practice, allowing fans to take a huge sigh of relief.

Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reported Sunday that the veteran tight end was activated off the non-football injury list.

The veteran pass catcher was placed on the NFI list on Friday but the team did not say what the injury was. Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron will look for Everett and Cole Kmet to be one of the best tight end duos in the NFL.

Last season with the Chargers, Everett posted 51 receptions (70 targets) for 411 yards and three touchdowns. Bears fans likely shouldn’t expect Everett to have 50 catches this season, with the talent at receiver and running back, but he should play a part in the offense’s success.
