The Bears received an excellent piece of news on Monday following WR Rome Odunze's sudden appearance on the injury report. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the initial reports on the injury sound like Chicago avoided the worst.

He suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain though doesn't have any significant damage, indicating he'll return to the field sooner than later. For a player that the organization has so much invested in, it's hard to be upset with the news.

With a difficult Week 2 matchup against the Texans waiting, it's unclear whether Odunze can play, but all hope is not lost for the rest of the fall.

Bears Get Great Injury News on WR Rome Odunze

Chicago's passing game was underwhelming overall, with fellow first-round QB Caleb Williams passing for only 93 total yards. Odunze is a major part of the offense moving forward, and the Bears need him at his healthiest in order to reach their potential.

The former Notre Dame star caught just one of four targets for 11 yards, though showcased his impressive ability even against a difficult defense.

It's unlikely that Odunze will play in Week 2, and possibly not even Week 3, but this ailment won't keep him out for long. DJ Moore and Keenan Allen can hold down the wide receiver group in the meantime, then hopefully Odunze will be at his best once things are more in sync.

Despite an ugly start, Chicago is 1-0 with everything the organization dreams of in front of it. Barring a surprise, no injuries have derailed that optimism thus far.
