Assessing 3 Trades the Bears Could Make During the 2024 Draft
The NFL draft is set to take place on Thursday, April 25, and go through Saturday, April 27. That means there is still three weeks left to speculate on what the Bears will do at No.9.
A majority of Bears faithful feel they should stay at No.9 and take either a wide receiver, offensive linemen, or a defensive end. However, there is a select group that feel trading out of then No.9 pick would be the Bears best option.
Bleacher Report recently released an article with three hypothetical trades the Bears could make during the 2024 draft. It's time to examine which one of these hypothetical trades is the best for the Bears future.
1. Bears trade No. 9 and No. 75 to Tennessee for No. 7
Even though the Bears traded for star wide receiver Kennan Allen this offseaosn, wide receiver is still a need since Allen is only guaranteed to be a Bear for one season. Trading up with the Titans would increase the chances of being able to draft Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers. Securing Odunze or Nabers at No. 7 would mean the Bears would not have to break the bank to keep the aging Allen.
While this potential trade would give a rookie quarterback, most likely Caleb Williams, a young wide receiver to build a connection with, it would leave the Bears with only one pick left in the 2024 draft. Even if the 2024 draft class is not very deep, general manager Ryan Poles is likely not okay with only having two picks in this year's draft.
Over his first two seasons as general manager, Poles has helped set the Bears up for success through the draft. While the roster may not have as many holes as it did when he took over, there are still a few glaring holes that need to be filled. Only having two picks in this draft would not allow the holes to be filled, so it is unlikely that this trade would happen.
