2. Smooth Offensive Operation

A quarterback's number one responsibility is to make sure the offense is running smoothly. However, NFL offenses are complex, making things tough for a rookie quarterback.

This has been seen throughout Bears' training camp as Willams and the offense have struggled with penalties pre and post-snap and snapping the ball with ample time left on the play clock. These issues can make an offense appear disjointed and sloppy during games.

Thankfully, Williams and the starting offense played a pretty clean 18 against the Bills. However, there were two bad plays in there.

The first happened on a play where Williams rolled out of the pocket to buy more time and right tackle Darnell Wight tackled the defender and got called for holding. Even though some blame falls on Williams for bailing out of the pocket.

However, if Williams hadn't, he would have been sacked. Ultimately, the more these guys play together, the less likely the penalty will happen.

The other near mistake that happened was a delay of game by Williams. While he had a good feel for the play clock on most plays, it seemed like he didn't on that one. A delay of game penalty can derail the momentum of a drive, so Williams must figure out the play clock. Williams ran the offense pretty smoothly against the Bills but still has a few things to work on, which is ok.
