2. Offensive line coach/run game coordinator Chris Morgan

Chris Morgan was hired as the Bears offensive line coach in 2022. Since then, the Bears have finished #1 and #2 in rushing and struggled in pass protection. In 2023, the Bears rushed for 2,399 yards, with 1,742 of those yards being from running backs. The team's success on the ground led to Morgan being the only offensive coach kept from Getsy's staff.

Morgan's retention was a bit odd because when a team cleans house, everyone is typically fired. Keeping him did admittedly have some logic since the Bears' offensive line was having some success under Morgan. Morgan also received a promotion to run game coordinator after being retained.

So far, the decision to keep him has not turned out well. The offensive line looks like it has regressed in both the pass and run game. In three games, they've allowed 13 sacks and 42 quarterback pressures.

Second-year offensive tackle Darnell Wright has been put on skates a few times this season, and instead of ascending like many thought he would, it looks like he's gotten worse. The stalwart of the defensive line, Teven Jenkins, has also not had a good start to the season.

On the ground, the Bears have averaged only three yards a carry through three games. That's the second-worst yards per carry in the league. While the players have to execute it's up to the coaching to make sure everyone is in the right spot. On some of the Bears' runs, that has not happened, which has led to anger from the fans and players.

If Morgan can't turn this offensive line into an average unit, which is where they were last season, by the end of the year, he needs to be gone.
