The Chicago Bears have been extremely active in 2024 under general manager Ryan Poles, and the additions they've made on both sides of the ball have led to some roster casualties already. But more could be on the way.

The aggressiveness of general manager Ryan Poles will extend to the 2024 NFL Draft where the Chicago Bears have the #1 overall pick and are expected to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams. In anticipation of that move, the Bears traded away former first-round pick Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The NFL is a tough business. It's a humbling business. After the first big wave of NFL free agency, which Chicago Bears players are fighting for their jobs?

1. Velus Jones Jr., WR

The Chicago Bears have made some big moves at the wide receiver position over the last two years. Although they were made during "free agency", they actually both came in the form of trades. Last offseason, the Bears traded for former Carolina Panthers receiver DJ Moore. This year, they made a trade for Chargers legend Keenan Allen.

With Tyler Scott expected to increase in his role this year, it could mean that Velus Jones Jr -- who didn't have a prominent job to begin with -- will lose his job altogether.

Jones, a former third-round pick out of Tennessee, has been a disappointment up to this point. At the very least, he was supposed to be a prominent return specialist for the Bears. He hasn't developed into much of anything. The Bears might cut bait with Jones after the 2024 NFL Draft, depending on what happens there.
