The Chicago Bears had a tough day in the office in Week 2. Not only did they fail to generate any momentum against the Minnesota Vikings' stout defense, but they also lost Caleb Williams to a hamstring injury.
However, as rough as things were on Sunday, there's always a silver lining. The Bears could clearly do much worse; they could be the 2026 Green Bay Packers, who, despite having the same 1-1 record, are far from a Super Bowl contender.
And now, to — literally — add insult to injury, they just lost starting RT Zach Bako-Bewele for the season. What started out as a complicated campaign is turning into a nightmare for Matt LaFleur, and we're loving it.
Packers should be 0-2, and things won't get much better
The Packers had Pro Football Focus' 27th-ranked offensive line after Week 1, and that was with a healthy Bako-Bewele. He was his only proven and reliable piece up front, and with him gone and Josh Jacobs still on the Commissioner's exempt list, it's just a matter of time before the Cheeseheads implode.
Fair, the Bears are also 1-1, but while they lost to a divisional rival in Week 2, just like the Packers in the season opener, LaFleur's team needed a miracle special teams play and overtime to take down the New York Jets, of all teams. Yes, they trailed by double digits to Geno Smith's Jets.
Micah Parsons will be out until at least Week 6, meaning he's likely to miss the first game against the Bears. Even when he does return, how long will it take until he's as mobile and explosive as before the injury? Some guys need more than a full season to get back to their usual level.
With a shaky cornerback tandem, their best player missing time, no running game whatsoever, a patchwork offensive line, and a head coach infamous for blowing double-digit leads, this will be a long, long season at Lambeau Field.
Of course, the Bears also have some problems of their own. Their secondary must be as sharp as they looked in Week 2 and not as erratic as they were in the opener, and the pass-rush could also use a hand.
But with a clear edge in the quarterback and head-coaching departments, a myriad of weapons for Caleb Williams, and one of the best offensive lines in the game, Packers fans clearly wished they'd root for Da Bears instead.
