The Chicago Bears are entering an exciting time. With first-year head coach Ben Johnson at the helm, the Bears are entering a new era where they hope to put a 5-12 season in the past and take a leap forward under second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.
The first step in that process comes next weekend when the Bears will hold its annual rookie minicamp. The event is a chance for the 2025 draft class, undrafted free agents and invitees to make a first impression and even a chance to earn an invite to the remainder of the offseason program.
For one Bears rookie, he’s getting a head start and already trying to get on the coaches’ good side before camp begins.
Bears Rookie Zah Frazier Says He’s Able to Adapt Wherever He Goes
The Bears’ cornerback room will be a difficult group to crack for an incoming rookie, but that’s exactly what rookie Zah Frazier will be attempting after being selected in the fifth round of last week’s draft. The UTSA product joins a group that already includes starters Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, Tyrique Stevenson and Harris, who will look to earn one of the final spots on next year’s roster.
While that task feels daunting, Frazier has already established a great mindset thanks to a collegiate career that included several stops on the way to the NFL.
“My journey was long," Frazier said during an interview with CHSN. “I was under recruited coming out of high school, I went to Southern Illinois, then from Southern Illinois, I went to Coffeyville Community College for the COVID season, and then I ended up going to UTSA. It’s been a long, long road, but it’s definitely helped me prepare, helped me be a better man, and it’s helped me physically and mentally. I’m just able to adapt anywhere, no matter where I go, I can adapt to my environment and go from there.”
“I’m just able to adapt.”

Making the Bears roster will involve a few adaptations for the rookie corner. Frazier was an outside cornerback for the Roadrunners last season but will battle for a spot alongside 2023 fifth-round pick Terrell Smith, Ameer Speed and free agent pickup Nick McCloud. He’ll also need to refine his technique but has the tendency to stick to opposing receivers.
If he can master the Bears playbook and fulfill his potential, he’ll have an excellent chance to make the roster. Should that happen, maybe Bears coaches will have to adapt to find a way to get him on the field.
