The Chicago Bears added two huge weapons to their receiving corps during the 2025 NFL Draft. In the first round, they selected Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. Then, they drafted Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden with their first pick (No.39) in the second round.
These two additions give new head coach Ben Johnson and second-year quarterback Caleb Williams even more offensive talent to work with to turn the team around. That said, Chicago has continued to add undrafted free agents on the offensive side of the ball.
According to Aaron Wilson of NBC's Houston affiliate KRPC 2, Chicago has invited Northwestern tight end Thomas Gordon to the rookie minicamp.

Bears Invite Former Northwestern Tight End Thomas Gordon to Rookie Minicamp
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end played four years at Northwestern. During that time, Gordon caught 54 passes for 529 yards and two touchdowns. Despite not having prolific pass-catching stats, he proved he could be a reliable target during his time with the Wildcats.
Still, Gordon was deployed more as a blocking tight end in college. Be that as it may, he will need to show he can do a bit of everything during rookie minicamp to make the 90-man roster.
Currently, Chicago's tight end room consists of Loveland, Cole Kmet and Durham Smythe. Outplaying Smythe, a seven-year veteran, throughout the offseason program is likely Gordon's only way of making it on the 53-man roster.
Both players' main strength seems to be blocking, and the Bears could prefer a slightly younger player who has a bit more upside in Gordon. Nevertheless, Bears fans will have to wait and see how rookie mincamp, training camp, and preseason play out to see if the former Northwestern wildcat can make the roster.
