Chicago Bears fans are looking forward to this weekend’s preseason against the Buffalo Bills, as the starters will be playing on Sunday night after not playing in the opener last week.

There will be a lot of eyes on second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense, which has a few faces on the offensive line and at the skill positions.

However, the same can be said for the defense, which is missing two of its starting cornerbacks, opening the door for other guys at the position to step up.

Speaking of the cornerback position, the Bears saw one of their most recently signed defenders depart practice on Thursday, which you never want to see just days before a game.

Bears CB Tre Flowers Surprisingly Leaves Thursday’s Practice

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, veteran defensive back Tre Flowers left the practice field early on Thursday. We haven’t heard any additional updates on why Flowers departed practice and if he suffered an injury.

The Bears hope that Flowers early departure was just a precaution, as they cannot lose another cornerback this summer. Late last month, we found out that Pro Bowl corner Jaylon Johnson sustained a lower leg injury that would sideline him for a few weeks.

Johnson’s injury immediately led to the Bears signing the 30-year-old Flowers, who has played for multiple teams over his seven-year career.

The 6-foot-3, 203-pound defensive back played with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts last season. Flowers didn’t do much with those two teams, as he predominantly played special teams. In fact, in his previous two spots (Atlanta and Cincinnati) before last year, the veteran has been more of a special teams player.

That’s a far cry from how his career began, where he was a starter on the outside with the Seattle Seahawks. Fast forward years later, and Flowers is trying to stick in Chicago and try to make the 53-man roster.

In last week's preseason opener, Flowers played the second-most defensive snaps (50) among Bears' defensive players. The veteran had five combined tackles, two pass deflections, and a special teams tackle.

The best way for the veteran defensive back to win a job is by being healthy and making plays on the field.
