Jaquan Brisker began the season hot. Through five games, Brisker has 27 combined tackles (7 assisted), one sack, one forced fumble and one interception. His interception count would be at two if he were able to re-establish himself in bounds when he "intercepted" Matthew Stafford in the end zone.

Last week against the Panthers, Brisker forced his lone fumble of the season. The fumble occurred on a huge hit to Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble.

Tremble lowering his head caused Brisker to essentially go helmet to helmet with him. That contact ultimately forced Tremble out of the game with a concussion.

In the immediate aftermath of the play, many people were surprised that Brisker was also not evaluated for a concussion. Instead, Brisker played the remainder of the game.

On Monday, though, it was reported that Brisker wouldn't be traveling with the team to London as he was entering concussion protocol. Technically, Brisker could have traveled later in the week to meet the team, but that was unlikely to happen with how the new concussion protocol works.

Brisker's status for Sunday was confirmed as out by head coach Matt Eberflus during his press conference on Wednesday. That means safety Elijah Hicks is the next man up.

According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, when asked about Hicks during his Wednesday press conference, Eberflus said "Elijah's done a really good job for us in the past. He's been in our system. We trust him, know him. He's excited for the opportunity."

Last season, Hicks made six starts at safety. In those starts, Hicks had one pass deflection and 35 combined tackles (20 solo and 15 assisted).

In the preseason, Hicks flew around the football field and had a knack for finding the ball. The level of competition is different during the regular season, so it will be interesting to see if Hicks will play better than he did earlier.
