After scoring only 12 points in the last two games, against the Cardinals and the Patriots, the Chicago Bears made a big decision to move on from their offensive coordinator Shane Waldron this week. Relative to the amount of talent on the team, the Bears being 30th in the league in yards and 24th in points was simply unacceptable.

While this change was welcomed by Bears fans, it doesn't address the actual problem. In his latest remarks on Wednesday, even Matt Eberflus admitted that the real issue is him. When asked about having to fire two offensive coordinators in less than a year, Eberflus took full responsibility, per ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Ever since Eberflus was hired as the head coach before the 2022 season, the Bears have played below expectations. Chicago under Eberflus has a 14-29 record and it never had an above-average offensive unit.

"Third play-caller and I take full accountability for that. I take full responsibility for that, and it’s got to get better. It’s gotta get better. The details of creativity have to improve and it’s got to improve this week."

In the same presser, Eberflus was asked about what the players' frustrations about the offense were. His response to that question wasn't particularly inspiring. Other than stating that the offense wants to "score points for our football team", Eberflus didn't specify what changes they are going to make starting Week 11.

These remarks are clearly concerning for Bears fans. It sounds like firing Shane Waldron was done out of necessity, but Eberflus and the coaching staff haven't been able to identify what actually needs to change. When that is the case, the natural next step is moving on from the head coach, and that seems like it's imminent.
