Matt Eberflus Makes 1st Comments on Bears Firing Shane Waldron
The Chicago Bears looked to be figuring things out on offense heading into their Week 7 bye week, scoring a combined 71 points in the two weeks prior.
Despite that success, the Bears offense significantly regressed following their bye, scoring a combined 27 points and one touchdown. The offense's inability to put together sustainable drives and score points fell on the shoulders of offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron.
Fans started calling for the firing of Waldron and Matt Eberflus after the Bears embarrassing loss in Arizona. Things only got worse after the team put just three points up against the New England Patriots this past Sunday.
A move needed to be made and it probably should have been made right after the game, but it wasn't. Instead, it took Eberflus till Tuesday morning to fire Waldron, and he shared a statement following the decision.
"After evaluating our entire operation, I decided that it is in the best interest of our team to move in a different direction with the leadership of our offense. This decision was well-thought-out, one that was conducted deliberately and respectfully."

It's staggering that it took Eberflus a whole day of deliberation to decide to fire Waldron. Any competent head coach/organization would have pulled the plug on Waldron right after the Patriots loss.
Watching Caleb Williams not have answers for one of the worst teams in the league is a huge indictment as a play caller.
Hopefully, with Waldron out the Bears will run the ball and have a more balanced offense.
