The Chicago Bears 2024 season has been a roller coaster ride. The Bears are 4-8 on the campaign after a disaster of a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions.

This was their sixth straight loss and they decided to change things around on the coaching staff. On Friday, they fired Matt Eberflus after two and a half uninspiring seasons at the helm.

The Bears have regressed under Eberflus' watch this season so it was time to change coaches. While that was the right decision, the person replacing Eberflus is questionable.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Thomas Brown will serve as the interim head coach. That is certainly an interesting choice, as Brown was elevated to offensive coordinator on Nov. 12. He entered the season as the passing game coordinator.

Over the span of 18 days, Brown has seen his role change and is now slated to lead this group. That is a lot of overturn and his focus should be solely on the development of Caleb Williams.

Since taking over as the play-caller, Williams has gone 75-of-117 for 827 yards and five passing touchdowns. In addition to Williams, the entire unit has elevated their play. Chicago has an NFL-best 22 third-down conversions and the third-most second-half points (46).

Now that Brown is the head coach, his sole focus will shift, which could have a negative impact on Williams' development.

Something similar happened with the New York Jets. In October, they fired Robert Saleh and named Jeff Ulbrich as the interim coach. He was previously the defensive coordinator but since taking over as the head coach, the defense has fallen off a cliff. They've allowed 25-plus points four times.

Meanwhile, in the first five games of the season, they allowed 17 points and 256 yards per game.

Hopefully, it isn't the same thing for Brown in Chicago but it looks like they are setting up the offense to fail.. again.
