The Chicago Bears will be searching for their next head coach after they fired Matt Eberflus in Week 13. The Bears named Thomas Brown the interim head coach in hopes of turning things around.

However, it has not gone well for the interim head coach, as Chicago’s losing streak is at eight games after last night’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. To put the Bears’ losing streak in context, only the New York Giants (9) and Las Vegas Raiders (10) have more consecutive defeats.

On Tuesday morning, Bears star wide receiver D.J. Moore was asked about his preference for a head coach during his weekly appearance on 670 The Score. Moore said that he would want an offensive-minded head coach.

If the Bears went that route, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson would be the best fit. However, the Bears’ leadership might not be on the same page with its players.

According to Ben Devine, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer believes that former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is No. 1 on Bears GM Ryan Poles’ shortlist.

Given the other potential job openings, the Bears might be the most appealing for a coaching candidate like Vrabel. Vrabel was let go last season after spending six years as the head coach of the Titans.

While the Bears could use an offensive mind to get this talented offense on track, Vrabel might be the guy to help reset the culture in the Windy City.

Chicago tried to go with a defensive-minded coach with Eberflus and it flopped after they tried to go with an offensive guy in Matt Nagy. But at least Nagy had two playoff appearances on his coaching resume in the Windy City.

If you look at what Vrabel did in Tennessee, it’s a solid resume of work. The 49-year-old head coach had four winning seasons and went to the playoffs three times, which includes an AFC title game appearance in 2019.

After what Bears fans have gone through with Eberflus, you can’t blame the Bears for having Vrabel at the top of their list, who has spent this season as a coaching consultant with the Cleveland Browns.
