Heading into last week's bye, injuries were starting to pile up in the Bears' secondary. Defensive backs Tyrique Stevenson (calf), Kyler Gordon (hamstring), and Jaquan Brisker (concussion) all suffered injuries prior to, or during, the London game.

The bye week was supposed to help each player get healthy. Unfortunately, coming out of the bye on Monday, Brisker and Gordon's injuries didn't sound resolved. Despite that, no one would really know the health of the two until the first injury report came out on Wednesday.

Neither Brisker nor Gordon practiced Wednesday, so things were looking bleak for them. As for Stevenson, he was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice and was tracking to play.

The Bears' final injury report for Sunday's game against the Commanders was released following Friday's practice and confirmed that Brisker and Gordon are out.

Bears News : Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon will not play on Sunday

Sunday will be the second game in a row that Brisker misses due to a concussion. Seeing as this isn't Brisker's first concussion, him being held out two games plus a bye week is a bit concerning.

In his absence, Elijah Hick will make his second start at safety. Hick did a nice job filling in for Brisker against the Jaguars in London, finishing his day with five tackles, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery.

Currently, the severity of Gordon's hamstring injury is unknown to the public. Even so, there isn't much panic because if was anything serious, he would have been put on injured reserve.

Josh Blackwell will be in for Gordon at nickel corner again on Sunday. Blackwell filled in nicely against the Jaguars, securing one interception, one tackle, and one pass deflection.

While Missing Brisker and Gordon hurts the Bears defense at least they have decent backups.
