Justin Fields Gets One Last Chance in Latest Offseason Prediction
The Chicago Bears had a disappointing campaign in 2024. Despite making a flurry of moves, the Bears couldn't get over the hump. Chicago finished with a 5-12 record and missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
The biggest addition of the offseason was quarterback Caleb Williams, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. To bring him in, the Bears decided to move on from quarterback Justin Fields.
He was the 11th overall pick by Chicago in 2021 and spent three seasons with the team. In March, Chicago sent Fields over to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over 10 games and six starts for the Steelers, he completed 65% of his passes for 1,106 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and one interception. He also added 289 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
Even though he got a chance to be QB1, Russell Wilson eventually took over. Fields is going to become a free agent, and in the latest article by Bleacher Report, he got handed one last chance for the 2025 season.
In that piece, they suggested that the New York Jets added Fields in free agency.
The Jets have a shaky quarterback room going into 2025. There are massive doubts on whether Aaron Rodgers will return and New York will be searching for another signal caller.
Fields would be an ideal target and would give him one last shot at being a franchise QB. The Ohio State product is an athletic dual-threat weapon that could give the Jets offense a jolt of energy.
In addition to having a chance of starting, assuming Rodgers is gone, he would reunite with his former college teammate Garrett Wilson. Those two guys played at Ohio State together from 2019-2020. During those two seasons, they combined for 1,155 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
There have been rumors that Wilson and Rodgers weren't on the best terms this past season. Getting his college QB could go a long way for the star playmaker.
Fields started games with the Steelers and Bears, but things didn't work out. He could have a chance to redeem himself in New York, and that may be his last shot.
