The Chicago Bears have a clear level of concern when it comes to the the current defensive back depth chart. Losing so many safeties in free agency as well as dealing with consistent issues at corner in the 2025 season leaves no shortage of concerns when it comes to how the position group will perform early on. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen has no shortage of questions to answer, an while he has full confidence of Chicago's fanbase it will likely take a bit of patience.
One vital piece of this is star corner Jaylon Johnson, who has been a bit of a question mark when it comes to what level he is going to reach. There is no longer any question that Ben Johnson is inviting the best of the veteran defender, as Chris Emma reported comments from Johnson on why there is a higher level of fire going into this season.

What Johnson is getting at is clear as this Bears roster has an unquestioned ability to make a Super Bowl run. Having such an elite ceiling at the two most important positions goes a long way in covering up any concerns.

The corner at his best in the 2023 season when he earned a Pro-Bowl nod and was second team All-Pro while putting together a year that appeared to cement the defender as a top corner. However, things didn't go according to plan as the veteran dealt with very different versions of a secondary and a coaching staff that simply didn't bring out the best of Johnson.
Last season there were signs of this version of the defender returning and this statement ahead of the season is an undeniable suggestion that perhaps Johnson is returning to the elite version of himself. Considering the shuffle at the safety position there is unquestionably more being put on the shoulders of Johnson.
Chicago getting the absolute best version of the corner would unlock a higher level of patience with the new pieces and go a long way in answering any concerns with the position. Johnson's quote is unquestionably eye-popping and exactly what fans want to hear.
