With rookie minicamps over with and OTAs slated to kick off around the league later this month, teams have looked back into the free agent market to see who's available.
Teams also brought in players for tryouts, and some guys took full advantage of that opportunity. According to Jordan Schultz, the Steelers are signing RB Trey Sermon to a one-year deal. He was someone who was brought in for a tryout, and he made his presence felt that the team decided to give him a deal.
With Sermon landing in Pittsburgh, that's one less landing stop for ex-Bears RB D'Onta Foreman.

Another Free Agent RB Got Signed Before Ex-Bear D’Onta Foreman
Foreman played for the Bears in just one season (2023). In that campaign, he appeared in nine games (eight starts), logging 109 carries for 425 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Over his seven-year career, Foreman has played for the Texans, Titans, Panthers, Bears, and Browns. Listed at six feet, 235 pounds, the Texas product is a downhill runner who could use his size to wear out opposing defenders.
Last season, he played with the Browns, finishing with 232 rushing yards, his lowest mark since 2020. These numbers could have rubbed teams the wrong way and led them to look in other directions.
Sermon didn't showcase the most over his four seasons in the league, recording 505 total rushing yards and three touchdowns between the 49ers, Eagles, and Colts. Age likely played a role in this addition, as Sermon is 26 and Foreman is 29.
Foreman could still land a job this summer, but it looks like he has his work cut out for him. Guys like Gus Edwards, Nick Chubb, JK Dobbins, and Cam Akers are all free agents. They've shown more on the field compared to Foreman, but things can change, especially if players start suffering some injuries.
