The sports media landscape is ever changing and that has opened the door for plenty of former athletes to break into on-screen media roles following their decisions to retire from their sport.
As great as it is for these former athletes to have media opportunities available to them, the reminder that it can be taken away just as quickly is constantly out there. That was reinforced this week with the news that a former Chicago Bears quarterback has lost his national TV job with Fox Sports 1.
Former Bears QB Chase Daniel Loses TV Job in Surprise Decision
Chase Daniel played for several NFL franchises throughout his career, with a stop in the Windy City being among the bunch. Daniel spent two seasons with the Bears from 2018 to 2019 and started three games, owning a 1-2 record as Chicago's starting quarterback, while throwing for 950 yards to go along with six touchdowns and four interceptions.
Daniel's NFL career came to a close following the 2022 season. After that, he made the full-time move into sports media and became a co-host on a show called "The Facility." Unfortunately, his time in that role was short-lived as the show failed to last a year after launching in September 2024.
Daniel's show, along with several others, was canceled this week by FS1, and now the former Bears QB is a free agent yet again, albeit in a much different realm than he was used to as a professional football player. The longtime quarterback is certainly disappointed to see his show come to an end, but he is taking the tough news in stride, as shown in a recent message shared on social media.

Another opportunity will present itself for Daniel down the line, assuming he desires to continue pursuing a full-time job in sports media moving forward. Despite his show being canceled within a year, Daniel is now a proven commodity in the media world. With as many brands as there are in the content creation game now, it is only a matter of time until someone offers him a job to talk ball on their airwaves.
Fans in Chicago can hope that he only has good things to say about the Bears and not as nice things to say about their NFC North division rivals wherever he winds up.
