The Chicago Bears' 0-2 start to the season has many fans feeling that a doomsday scenario is very much on the table. Head coach Ben Johnson hasn't offered the expected drastic improvements two weeks into the season. As dark as things might look, we have 16 weeks remaining in the season, leaving plenty of runway for the Bears to turn the corner.

However, there is no denying that it appears that, with the current trajectory, the franchise could be headed for a reset.

There has been speculation that D'Andre Swift could be on the move if the early-season slide continues. This has only gotten more prevalent with a notable Chicago sports fan speculating that star receiver DJ Moore isn't going to end the season with the Bears. This makes sense on several levels when considering the youth of the offense and understanding the timeline of Moore in comparison to the rest of the team's playmakers.

Bears Might Be Forced to Trade Star Receiver DJ Moore in 2025

Chicago has Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, who are in their second and first seasons with the team, respectively. Add in quarterback Caleb Williams, who is in Year 2, and Johnson and Chicago's front office could opt to view this as a long-term project. With that in mind, the Bears could turn Moore into an early pick while getting what they can in return for Swift.

If the season continues to be as bleak as it has been in the first two weeks of the season, there is zero reason not to turn the page. Moore is on a $110 million deal that runs through the 2029 season with a potential out after the 2027 season, per Spotrac. This makes the contract incredibly enticing to the right contender. Looking around the landscape of the league, two potential fits for Moore stand out.

The first is obvious with a Kansas City Chiefs team that is completely desperate for anything close to a reliable target. Rashee Rice is out until mid-October, adding a sense of urgency that might force an overspend and a valuable pick or two for Chicago. The second fit would be the Buffalo Bills, giving Josh Allen a star target in what appears to be the AFC's early favorite contender.

A trade would be a chance for Moore to join a contender for the first time in his career after spending the last eight seasons with the Bears and Carolina Panthers. Whether it's one of the above contenders or a surprise option, it makes sense for the Bears to sell off pieces like Moore if the season continues to implode.
