The Chicago Bears officially hired Ben Johnson as their next head coach on Monday. Johnson's hiring has sent Bears fandom into a heap of excitement. While the Bears having the fans on board with their hire is important, the players' reactions are more vital.

A positive reaction shows that a player is looking forward to working with Johnson, while a negative one might show they didn't want him here. That said, the NFL is a business, so players have to find peace with Johnson's hiring no matter what. Star receiver D.J. Moore shared his reaction to Johnson's hiring on X.

D.J. Moore Reacts to Ben Johnson's Hiring With Sonic GIF

On the surface, Moore's choice to use this GIF might be confusing to some. Nevertheless, if you sit down and think about it for a second, it actually makes sense. This past season, Detroit's backfield of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs was given the nickname Sonic and Knuckles.

Gibbs was given the name Sonic because of his speed, and Montgomery was given the name Knuckles because of the power he runs with.

Moore’s use of this GIF likely points to Johnson’s success in utilizing both backs effectively in Detroit, a subtle but meaningful endorsement of his new head coach. While he could have posted a straightforward tweet saying, "I'm excited to work with Ben," his choice of imagery speaks louder than words.

In 2024, Moore was not used as the downfield threat; he has proven to record only 9.9 yards per reception. That mark is by far the lowest of his career, which Moore can't be happy with. Thankfully, Johnson has shown he understands how to use players to their strengths, so Moore should look more like he did in 2023 next season for the Bears.
