The Chicago Bears unquestionably have one of the league's most talented offensive units and are one of the few rosters that can hope to slow the Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams. Still, if the Bears are going to make a Super Bowl run it is going to require a handful of things to fall their way including a clear need to have a balanced attack. As great as Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson might be the Bears are only going to be able to reach their full offensive potential if D'Andre Swift is able to repeat his production from a season ago.
Swift is entering a contract year and has every reason to be completely focused on putting up numbers in what could be the veteran's last shot at truly cashing in on free agency. Added into this is the bigger picture that Swift has a chance to be an incredibly important piece for an expected Super Bowl contender.
Putting it simply, the Bears need the rusher to be able to repeat exactly what he offered a season ago for the offense to be balanced and have a true chance of making a Super Bowl run. Pointing out that Swift has the ability to swing the 2026 season isn't a hot take, but simply reality.
The Bears understand D'Andre Swift has an unquestionable ability to swing the 2026 Season
Last year the rusher offered 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns averaging nearly five years a carry. It was a season well supported by the explosive offense of Ben Johnson and the surprise emergence of Kyle Monangai. The year before Swift appeared to be a potential free agency bust finishing under 1,000 rushing yards and offering only 3.8 yards per carry in the rookie season of Caleb Williams.
This points to how incredibly important both coaching and offensive line play are when it comes to results for the position. Swift went from a potential bust of a signing, to a player that has the ability to take pressure off Williams and give Chicago the level of balance needed to achieve a Super Bowl run.
It will be interesting to watch early in the 2026 season how Swift fares and whether or not the Bears ask a bit more of the back as Monangai has been dealing with an injury. No matter the answer, there is no way around just how important Swift is for a franchise with every reason to believe its season could end in Super Bowl glory.
