Coach Bears Could Possibly Trade for Addresses Chicago Rumors
Ever since Matt Ebetflus was fired, fans and media have been speculating on who the next Bears head coach will be. One scenario that has gained lots of fans attention is the Bears trading for San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The reason this rumor has picked up steam is because the 49ers are having a down year due to injuries, and many Niners fans want Shanahan gone. Yet, even with health issues, the 49ers still have talented players, evidenced by their 38-13 destruction of the Bears on Sunday in Santa Clara.
After the game, Shanahan was about his status with San Francisco by local reporters. Shanahan said, "I don't know why those rumors would come out, but I don't wanna be any place in the world other than here {San Francisco}."
Bears News: Kyle Shanahan declares he wants to stay in San Francisco
While trading for Shanahan was more of a pipe dream than anything, him confirming he wants to stay in San Francisco is the worst news for Bears fans. Just look at how well Shanahan prepared his team riddled with injuries to face a Bears team that supposedly had a great week of practice and new energy.
A 49ers offense that was down their top two running backs, their top offensive linemen, and their best wide receiver and lost another offensive lineman early in the game scored on four of their five opening possessions. That's coming off back-to-back weeks where the Niners' offense looked terrible, only combining for 20 points.
The 49ers finished the day with 456 total yards (325 passing and 131 rushing) and five touchdowns (two passing and three rushing).
Defensively, the 49ers dominated, holding the Bears to 208 total yards (140 passing and 68 rushing), two passing touchdowns and sacking Caleb Williams seven times. Although the Bears offensive line isn't great, no fan on either side was expecting Williams to be sacked so much given San Francisco's previous struggles in that department.
Nevertheless, a good coach like Shanahan sees opponents weakness and exploits them.
Ultimately, while Shanahan wasn't a realistic target in most people's minds to began with, it's unfortunate he took himself out of the running.
