CBS Sports just gave D'Andre Swift far less respect than he deserves

D'Andre Swift is coming off the best season of his career, making his placement behind Josh Jacobs difficult to justify.

The Chicago Bears have a clear argument as to having one of the league's best running back duos with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai; it is Swift leading the way. Still, the playmaker hasn't gotten his deserved respect when it comes to national attention. This was recently made clear by a CBS Sports positional ranking for the 2026 season that listed a top-ten without Swift. The early rankings are understandable; however, where the wheels completely fall off is ranking a division rival ahead of Swift.

Josh Jacobs holds the 10th overall ranking despite finishing with fewer yards by well over 100 and averaging nearly a full yard less per carry. With this in mind, there is no question that Swift is the better option. It should also be noted here that Jacobs is facing off-the-field concerns, only adding to the current level of clear disrespect that this ranking invites.

Swift is arguably coming off the best season of his career, while Jacobs is dealing with a concerning legal situation and showed a clear level of regression. Putting it simply, it is hard to imagine, given a choice right now, that there is a GM choosing Jacobs over Swift in a hypothetical redraft.

Recent Running Back Ranking Shows Clear Level of Disrepect for D'Andre Swift

It is important to note that this isn't meant to present a delusional Chicago take of arguing that Swift is in the same conversation as Bijan Robinson or Saquon Barkley. However, looking at the numbers, there is no getting around the clear level of production he has provided in Ben Johnson's offense and the fact that the playmaker deserved a spot at the bottom of the list.

In many ways, it serves as a reminder of how underrated Chicago's star back remains in what is going to be a contract year. The Bears are risking a lot by opting to let the veteran return without an extension in place.

Something that could serve as a clear motivator for a rusher who is an underrated piece of what has a chance to be the league's most productive offense. All of this adds up to making an undeniable case that any top-ten list that doesn't have Swift included isn't paying enough attention to Chicago's offense.

Amid questions around the team's offseason changes and completion percentage, there is no shortage of motivation to be found all over the roster. Including for a talented back who deserves far more respect around the league.
