Caleb Williams' Surprise Comments Will Devastate Bears Fans
There was a lot of excitement and eagerness for the 2024 season in Chicago. The offseason was filled with splash moves, with the biggest one centered around Caleb Williams.
Williams was the first overall pick by Chicago in the 2024 NFL Draft but nothing has gone according to plan in his rookie season. As we enter Week 15, the Bears are 4-9 on the season and have lost seven straight games.
They fired Matt Eberflus, but the product on the field didn't change much, as Chicago fell 38-13 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14.
Williams was asked about the losing streak and his answers could worry the Bears fanbase.
Bears News: Bears Losing Streak Put Strain on Caleb Williams
Williams' response to the Bears' losing streak could make Chicago fans uneasy.
"It's ... interesting, is the way I put it. I've never had a streak like this of losing."
- Caleb Williams
The expectation was that the Bears built a sound supporting cast around Williams that would ease him in during his rookie season. Instead, it has been a complete disaster.
At times this season, Williams has looked lost back there and has been constantly hit. He's been the most sacked quarterback in the league (56) and the offense hasn't been as productive as they hoped too. In 2024, Chicago is 32nd in total offense (290), 30th in passing offense (182.7), and 24th in scoring offense (19.5).
The 23-year-old isn't used to losing like this. In college, he compiled a 23-10 record with USC and Oklahoma, securing a Heisman Trophy in the process.
With an offense that features D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, and D'Andre Swift, the production should be better. This clearly indicates the Bears need a whole overhaul on the coaching staff this offseason. They are risking shattering Williams' mental and confidence with the constant losing and poor coaching.
The Bears need to make sure they hire the right people, or they risk ruining the chance of having a franchise QB. Something they have been waiting for the entirety of their team's history.
