Caleb Williams should use Pete Prisco's latest quarterback rankings as motivation

The CBS Sports analyst left the Chicago Bears quarterback outside his top 10 entering the 2026 season despite Williams already proving he belongs in that conversation.

It was impossible for Chicago Bears fans not to notice a recent CBS Sports quarterback ranking that seemed intent on disrespecting Caleb Williams. NFL columnist Pete Prisco listed his top ten quarterbacks for the 2026 season, with the pundit appearing to forget the existence of Williams as his top ten took shape.

Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes all listed above Williams is more than fair. Each of these quarterbacks has a laundry list of accomplishments that the Chicago signal-caller is yet to realize as he continues to develop heading into year three. To put it simply, proven players that have postseason wins in late January are understandably going to be put ahead of Williams.

However, where the wheels fall off a bit is realizing that Dak Prescott, Jordan Love, Jared Goff, and even Drake Maye all find themselves ranked above Williams for the 2026 season. This simply cannot be accepted when you look at the resumes of each players and understand what Williams has accomplished in a shorter time.

Fans just watched Williams defeat Love in a playoff game, while the quarterback hasn't spent nearly as much time in the league as Dak and already has half as many playoff wins. There is also simply the eye test, where we turn to both Prescott and Goff as obvious exclusions when talking about reasonable options to take in front of the Bears' star.

Both quarterbacks are limited when it comes to their arm talent and ability to scramble out of trouble. This isn't to discredit either player, but rather pointing out the reality of how much more talent Williams has and that this has already translated to an early-career playoff win.

Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Should Take Note of Recent Disrespectful Ranking

When it comes to Maye, there is simply the draft argument, realizing that the quarterback was drafted after Williams for good reason. While some might point to Maye's Super Bowl appearance, it should be noted who New England played to put the quarterback in this position. The Houston Texans are not an impressive team, with that being the Pats second round win, and the Denver Broncos securing New England's Super Bowl berth by being forced to start their backup quarterback.

Adding to the argument again is the fact that every team in the league, if given the chance, would draft Williams as a top-ten option. Whether it is for the 2026 season or moving forward, any argument against Williams inside the top ten is simply disrespectful.

It is a ranking that isn't going to age well, with evidence mounting that the Chicago quarterback is being set up to take another leap in the 2026 season. One that is going to leave even the biggest doubters with no room to deny the obvious.
