It is hard to imagine the Chicago Bears managing Caleb Williams return to the lineup more perfectly after last week's results. Williams stepped back into the lineup and completed 30/36 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown. There was a lot of production left on the table as well due to the fact that Chicago piled up penalties while also having a firm grip on the game through three and a half quarters not needing to push the gas pedal down.

With this in mind, the Bears deserve immense credit for how they handled the situation. This is especially easy to appreciate when you look at the Philadelphia Eagles and the controversy swirling around Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after a terribly managed injury situation.

Williams offered a telling quote and didn't take the opportunity to pound his own chest, but fittingly build up those around him and the unit as a whole.

"I felt confident from the jump. When I get out there, I'm going to feel confident in my leg, in myself, and in my guys and the O-line. So I just let it rip, let these guys go make plays for us, get first downs, and score touchdowns"

An offensive line that in years past has often had Williams running for his life unquestionably played at a higher level in comparison to recent seasons. Still, this was a moment for the quarterback and the signal caller opted to point out his playmakers and protection rather than take credit in a game that was played at an elite level.

Chicago's training and coaching staffs deserve credit here for how they managed the situation and finding ways to grit out wins even without their starting quarterback. Finding a way to go 2-2 since the injury happened is an unquestionable win in comparison with realistic expectations.

The Bears are in a great position understanding they can now have full confidence in Williams based on handling the injury in a way that didn't cost the team the season. It had to be tempting to push the quarterback on the field a bit too soon based simply on the obvious limitations on your offense if Case Keenum or Tyson Bagent are starting.

Instead, the Bears remained patient understanding protecting Williams is vital if they are going to accomplish the ultimate goal. Sunday was a step in this direction and proved that the timing worked out perfectly both for the franchise and Williams.

With this in mind, the Bears should continue to have lofty expectations of rolling through the next weeks and reclaiming lost momentum. All built around a group of decision-makers that very quietly navigated a complicated situation to perfection.
