Chicago Bears fans couldn't be happy with former player and current broadcaster Mark Schlereth comparing Caleb Williams to Kyler Murray. The veteran pundit took things a step further, making the case that Williams wasn't a good quarterback. It was a contrarian take that ignored what the tape says about a player clearly getting ready to take a year three leap. However, it seems Williams is taking this in the absolute best way.

Retweeting Chicago pundit Ben Devine, who had reposted the hot take that Williams is not a good quarterback. Reposting this is clearly embracing a level of pettiness that Bears fans cannot help but appreciate. Williams is keeping a record of doubters and takes that disrespect what is going to be a great career.

Chicago can't help but love this outlook understanding it is a gear that every great athlete has. Tom Brady is an elite example of this having a level of unhinged pettiness that he only allowed on the field and the sideline. While every presser was approached with the most basic answers and Brady didn't offer his oppenents bulletn board material, he took notice of every possible motivator.

It is great to see Williams adopting this same approach, giving all of the right answers to the media while quietly utilizing the noise as motivation. No question, these types of takes not only help Williams but also serve as a clear motivation for a roster that has reason to feel disrespected.

Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Taking Note of Surprising Disrespect

Williams may only have one playoff win under his belt, but the potential is undeniable. It seems that many around the league are either failing to pay attention or simply wanting to have an opposite take from the boring and predictable reality of Williams having an incredibly bright future.

The quarterback choosing to embrace pettiness and do so in a fashion that serves as a motivator is a great sign. Williams has long been doubted, dating back to his college days, when a portion of fans questioned his persona and whether or not the quarterback had what it took to lead a team. Whether it was showing emotion with his family after the game or something as simple as painting his nails, the quarterback is used to being doubted and having noise swirling.

It is the sign of a great athlete when you can not be overwhelmed by this but harness it to push yourself to a level of greatness. This is where Williams is undeniably heading, with the receipt now kept and the quarterback gearing up for another breakout season.
