Caleb Williams Is Playing a Different Game Than Everyone Else in the NFC

When you stack Caleb Williams against Love, Goff, and whoever the Vikings trot out, it stops being a conversation pretty quickly

Heading into year three of the Caleb Williams era, the Chicago Bears already have an obvious argument for having the league's best quarterback. This is evidenced by the fact that Williams is already starting to face incredible pressure and be talked about as a top-five option at the position, with pundits speculating the heights that the talented signal caller might reach in the next years of his career.

This makes it clear that it is the Chicago quarterback who is under far more pressure than the rest of the NFC North quarterbacks. Williams is far and away facing the highest expectations and has established himself as the best within the division. Leading us to look at each of the remaining starters and make the case as to why Williams is already in a different category.

1. Jordan Love

Already, Williams has beaten Love in the playoffs, where the game matters most, and the discussion wasn't around Love. The quarterback had the ball in his hands more than once with a chance to counter the Bears and stop an epic playoff comeback. Instead, the Packers would collapse, and still, it seems that Love has escaped much offseason criticism, pointing to the fact that he isn't held to the same standard as Williams and simply is a reliable regular-season option while not offering the elite arm talent of the Chicago quarterback.

Furthering this point is the fact that Green Bay has already handed the quarterback a four-year deal worth $220 million taking away the pressure of earning a second contract as well. No question, Love has settled into the role and offered reliable, regular-season results while the expectations appear to be far fewer than what is facing Williams.

2. Jared Goff

Fans understand the lack of pressure on Goff when you look at last season's offensive inconsistency and realize who received the bulk of the blame. It was former offensive coordinator John Morton and the coaching staff that was pointed to as the problem and not your veteran quarterback. As great as Goff can be, the veteran is reliant on the system and needs playmakers around him to consistently create to be at his best.

Already having started a Super Bowl and having multiple playoff wins, the potential ceiling of Goff is clear. The quarterback is facing very little pressure, having a secure contract situation and not being pointed to as the problem if things were to go sideways in the 2026 season. No question, Goff is sitting in a perfect spot, able to get credit when things fall Detroit's way and dealing with limited expectations.

3. Kyler Murray/J.J. McCarthy

Whoever the Vikings settle on at quarterback is obviously going to be a laughable debate in comparison to Williams. This isn't a team with Super Bowl expectations, but a group just hoping to claw its way into wildcard relevance throughout the 2026 season. Minnesota is still paying for the mistake of letting defending Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold walk away and believes they could easily repeat the success of the 2024 season.

Things have fallen out of control, and the current options at quarterback are a distant fourth when you're ranking division quarterbacks. It doesn't matter which starter the Vikings settle on there is no reasonable debate to be had.
