As the Bears approach the final game of the preseason, they're working through the many issues that pop up during Training Camp. Injuries have been an issue for Chicago in the lead-up to the season, but thankfully, Caleb Williams hasn't been one of them.
The Bears' star quarterback is navigating into his third season on an NFL roster, and, on the threshold of his second year under head coach Ben Johnson, is on the precipice of marked improvement. Williams has had his fair share of problems in his first two seasons, but the direction of Johnson has been nothing short of a godsend.

It doesn't make any difference to a football team how many yards they got if they didn't score when they got there. Finishing the job is arguably more important than starting it, and it's one of the things that can define an elite quarterback in the NFL.
Think about the elite quarterbacks across the league, past and present. They all possess an immaculate ability to get the ball in the end zone, and that's particularly important in the red zone. Showing a presence in the red zone that's calm and collected is much more likely to score and finish drives. The more drives that get finished, the less the Bears need to scramble with two minutes left.
The Bears' defense consistently ranked among the bottom of the league in 2025. Though they've taken steps to ensure that this isn't the case in 2026, many fans and pundits are worried that Chicago may remain there.
That's what makes it so important for the Bears to finish, beyond the standard reasons. Williams' confidence will be key for Chicago in the red zone.
