The Chicago Bears have been extremely active this offseason. The biggest move made was hiring Ben Johnson to become the new head coach.

He's known for being an offensive guru and will play a huge role in the development of quarterback Caleb Williams. Since Johnson is a new coach, the Bears were able to kick off voluntary workouts this week.

This was the first time that Johnson could address the team as a whole and put his imprint on what he wants the team to be. The coaching staff didn't waste any time teaching these players and quarterback Caleb Williams talked about it in a press conference on Tuesday.

Williams said, "Today we had our first quiz as a QB room … already first day in, they’re challenging us."

Caleb Williams Says Bears Coaches Are Already Challenging Players

This type of development is exactly what fans want to hear after a disappointing 2024 season. After starting the season 4-2, the Bears hit a wall and dropped 10 consecutive games. They entered the season with high expectations but weren't able to produce the way they imagined.

As for Williams, he struggled immensely as a rookie. He was the most sacked quarterback in the league this past season (68) and the offense has trouble moving the ball at times. The USC product completed 62.5% of his passes for 3,541 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions.

He had one or fewer passing touchdowns in 10 games last season. Talent isn't the issue with Williams but the mental aspect of the game seemed to overwhelm him at times. Johnson was brought in to take Williams' game to another level. Johnson didn't waste a second getting the quarterbacks' minds going.

They play the most important position on the team. Johnson knows his success in the Windy City will be linked to Williams and the offensive production. Sharpening his mind in April could end up paying dividends when the season starts in September and get the Bears to hit the ground running.
